Well let me begin be saying that I hurried over to where this Green Heron was (my first) and forgot to change settings, so I ended up with less than ideal images. I do have to slow down at times. Very late in the afternoon, right before sunset. Thanks for looking, all critiques are encouraged.

Very nice Green Heron, Kirk! Great to have caught him with a fish in his bill! "....forgot to change settings...." lol! I just did that recently myself - I get too excited sometimes when I spot a "first" - or a special behavior, etc. Live and learn, huh? I wonder if this might lend itself nicely to more of a pano crop - it seems to me there is so much of that very dark water....?
All of us have forgotten to change settings like this.....but after we have done it enough times, we get better at remembering in the heat of the moment!
I like the pose with the fish, and the water texture is lovely. It is too bad that the upper half of the stream is shaded and dark. Getting a little lower when possible will add a more intimate feel to the image. The bird is well lit and the image is sharp. Glad you got to capture this nice Green Heron!
