    Default Nikon D700

I have a Nikon D2X but was informed, to my surprise, when shooting at ISO speeds higher than 400 it will be noisey. I am thinking of switching to the D700 which I understand can be used without much noise at speeds greater than 400iso. I would appreciate anyone comments and thoughts on this idea. I was also thinking about a gray market camera which I understand can still be serviced in the USA but just not by Nikon Thanks

Hi James The ISO performance will be night and day Should be similar if not the same as the D3. Normally I do not even bother using NoiseNinja until I get up to 1600 !!! One thing to keep in mind is that it has no crop factor and will have an effect. If you use tele lenses the mag factor will be missed!!!

Generally I would not recommend the grey market camera. I understand that some of the large stores selling them will do their own repairs but for the difference would go with the USA version.

James, I have the D2X and also purchased the D700. The D2X is noisy over 400 and I I thought I would sell it but have decided to keep it. The D700 is great and does do an amazing job of sharp, clear, no-noise photos at high ISOs. But, I love the color of the D2x and the ability to take photos at ISO 100 and I need that crop factor. So, two cameras.
