    Default PrairiE Warbler-sRGB ?

    Attached Images Attached Images

How does a small bird balanced with an element of its habitat work ?(large pine tassel) ?

Also PS question-in other programs I have the color like I want it but when open in PS2 becomes much duller even when I convert to sRGB ! This becomes very noticeable in a bright yellow bird such as this.

However I note the color on the post back to the way I liked it and brighter than in PS2. What gives with this all you PS experts.
    Thanks

Hi Chas Would check the color spaces in PS If all is in sync you should not have the changes.

I like the perch but its a tough situation Would like seeing the top within the dof but might not be possible? What aperture did you use? In cases like these if I can't get enough dof I will go wide open right at the eye. Did not see the exp comp either. Head angle is a bit off !!! Light must have been high in the sky since the lower body is in shadow. Do like the clean looking image and bold colors !!!

Hi Colin - Looks like the HAP have got you - don't worry you will probably come to know them pretty well - I know I did - LOL. :)

Also in regards to the HAP - You can run but you cant hide. :)

I like where you were heading with this, like the BG but agree it would be better with the full plant in focus.

    keep them coming :)

    Hi Charles,
Don't worry - we've all been put under arrest by the HAP!!
Agree with Al and Lance's comments but I am enjoying your image nonetheless. I love the colours and the pose - such a pretty bird!
    Regards,
    Nicki

I guess I have not been on the forum actively that long, so what in the H--- is the HAP ?
This obviously is a dumb question ,since everyone else seems to know. Gee it took me a week to figure out BG. Don't make me angry or I will throw out all sorts of medical abbreviations !

It's not a dumb question at all. Head Angle Police. Well, I know what an EKG is, but don't ask me to break down the words!

I'm going to guess that Al is referring to the fact that the bird seems to be looking away from you - the camera is a little behind his head rather than parallel....

Search for my post "turning myself in" in this forum - there are some good responses there when I asked the question about it.... Not sure how to insert the link to it here.

    Congrats on a great image.

I would never have figured that one out in a hundred yrs.

I know they harp on the head angle bit in all forums and the BG bit, but BG was easier to figure out.

Thanks for the input and now will watch out for the HAP, but I have been known to get a U turn and jaywalking ticket so I will take this one in stride.

Chas the head angle is a big deal for most bird images.

Can look at it from different points of view. It does doe look more attractive with the bird not looking away? Also for a posing bird if you get a slight turn of the head from parallel toward the camera, you will have the eye and tip of bill in the same plane making both sharp and not relying on dof,

There are time which is fine to have the bird looking away but for the most part its not going to work !!!! ..... careful with those U turns :)

btw for this one I would have traded shutter speed for aperture !!!! Would have made a difference.

You are right in retrospect I had plenty of lee way to increase depth of field after looking at numbers. Practically speaking and all bird photographers know this ,the wind was blowing the top of the pine tree in all directions. The bird was agitated taking different perches and I was HOT in the bright sun. I opted for fast shutter speed to try to stop the tree sway motion. In a 2nd retrospect I would probably do the same for the first image ,but then change to a greater DOF hopefully for a 2nd chance.

Thanks for input because it does make you think-why did I do what I did ? That in itself is a learning experience.

    Chas.
