Good composition on this very different pose. I like the eye contact and the diffuse light, but the catchlight in the eye looks odd to me. Did you add it? The lower part of the perch and the mid right side seem to have some bleed from the bg color.

I like the angle and pose. The catchlight looks a bit big and the bird a bit soft on my monitor. Is this a heavy crop?

For me, the posture and pose are awkward. Image is soft and needs a contrast boost. A crop to a SQ from bottom and top would tighten it up but the image quality problems may be insurmountable..

Thanks to all - very helpful comments. To answer: Linda, Axel - I didn't add the catchlight, but agree it looks large. Axel - this is approx. 50% crop. And Artie, it is soft, just not enough pixels. I like the pose with the extended wing. Just a fraction of a second later, the other wing came up and he flew, so it reminds me of that. For the repost, I cropped, increased the contrast, but it's still soft. Something about ... can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear. ;o)
