White-winged dove was strutting amongst the ladies yesterday. Has all the markings for the species.
Eliptical blue ring around eye, black patch below eye purplish tint and bronzing on the neck.
Was nice to photograph a bird again, and moments ago the skies burst with thunder and another
downpour of rain. Love it as the wild flowers are bursting out everywhere . . .
All C & C's welcome as usual . . . Uncle Gus :D

is it just me or is there a halo showing around the bird? looks like the eye could use one more round of sharpening too!! awesome looking bird uncle gus!! is that a homemade bg or is it the actual original? either way it is very nice and somewhat dramatic!! the dark area in the ear region is somewhat distracting too. what is that? almost looks like you had light almost coming from behind and got a gust of wind from the front and it left a shadow where some feathers lifted.
Hi Harold: Photo was taken in our garden from about 25 feet away and BG is from the reddish large gravel spread over the sand. No more adding backgounds as I would like my photos to come from my camera, not photoshop. appreciate your comments . . . Thanks . . . Gus
BTW: The dark area below the ear is the black patch on every White-winged Dove.
Quote; from the book: "Both male and female adults also have a ring of blue, featherless skin around each eye, red irises, a patch of black feathers or “ear spot” beneath and behind the eye"

Thanks for looking at my Dove, appreciate your always upbeat comments on my first venture back into the real world of bird photography..
Your photos inspire me to try better, and I think Lightroom 2 will help my workflow. Didn't use it on the Dove, however, took a couple of snapshots of photos on the wall, and was impressed the way it straightened & enhanced them with a few clicks.
Beautiful shot Gus. No halos on my monitor. Here in ABQ we have a lot of them as well. Nice birds to photograph because of the colors...this capture is no exception.

Excellent Gus !!! Would take a second look at the histogram The given compensation should have given you some under exposure? Do like the pose and selected bg !! Very good looking bird !!!
With all due respect to the posters above (we appreciate your participation and especially your membership support) this image is garishly over-saturated and much too contrasty. Are all of your monitors calibrated? Lastly, the BKGR and the wing are very noisy.

I should have mentioned above that I like the COMP and the BKGR. I reduced the SAT and contrast for the repost.

i've never seen one , so i cant say much for being oversaturated!! i do like that you brought some texture back to the ear patch in the repost. nice job!!
