Every year that I have shot in the Valley I have tried for this shot.
I finally pulled it off early this year. Setting up the Cactus near a feeder will get the bird to land on it, and a little luck will get the bird to pull off a berry ;)
This is one of the many set-ups that I hope to share with participants next Spring.
Your basic "TSO" image Murph !!! Total Sensory Overload !!!
Can't recall a better perch and having the bird with a snack all in perfect angle .... great looking bird btw !!!! The little space to the right could enhance further but what an awesome image !!! Big Time Congrats !!!!
Well worth waiting for. Perch, BKGR, berry, and head angle are perfect.

Great image Alan! I love the "S" curve of the cactus framing the bird, and capturing the moment when the bird plucked the berry is the icing on the cake. Beautiful all around!
Great shot Alan, S-curve is a lovely frame. Reminds me of a painting where the composition can be created just as the artist wants. Here you have created the stage to entice the performer and then capture the moment perfectly.
Great image! I like the curve of the perch framing the bird and the complimentary BG color that is so smooth. The berry in the mouth was worth waiting for!
