Picture taken today. I was a bit worried because I was closer to the baby moose then the mother and that mother did chase my friend a couple of weeks ago. But I do not think they ever noticed me because I had to move or the baby moose would walk over me...

    Hi Johannes

Love the bg and overall feel Really special As presented would move the baby moose to the right and sure wish that one leave was not obstructing his face. Still the eye is visible which makes it good. Careful with those guys !!!! Excellent !!!

Johannes, that is one cute baby moose! Did you by any chance do a curves adjustment in pp? It seems to be a bit bright in the highlights and muddy in the midtones. I'm wondering if a curves adjustment wouldn't balance it out a bit more?

    Hello there...

    Thanks both for your comments...

Alfred - I also would prefer a bit to the right. Not to much because I love the green leafs on the right side but it might have bin better with just a centimeter or something like that. The leaf under the eye is as you say disturbing the face a bit but I tried to calm and get the eye sharp with I manage to do. I am very proud you like the picture and I agree to the things you say.

Julie - Yes it was very cute. The mother is not so cute and I always had one eye at her. I did not make any curves adjustment. I did some adjustment with shadows to see the area around his mouth better and I also did a exposure compensation at +0,17...

I will try to do something with the curves and see if I can do something different. But I am pretty useless at it. I dont really know how it works but I will try. Training makes skills right :)

Actually. I tried it at once and with this picture it went quite good. Sometimes when I try with curves. Quite often with landscapepictures I manage to do the picture very un-natural. But this one I was pretty satisfied with... What do you think ?

I also crop/cut (I do not now the name you use) the picture a bit to the right....

    Johannes,

I feel that moving left would have strengthen this image a lot and still keep the nice looking leaves in the image. I like the sharp eye, head and ears - great work there.

For a quick and dirty enhancement to mid-tones and if you are using PS, try a shadow highlight adjustment on a BG layer and use the midtone contrast slideer to add contrast to the midtones. Then you can use the shadow sliders amount and tonal width to open up shadows.

    Hi Robert...

Thanks for that. I am not usually using PS. Well, the only times I use it is when you guys here on Birdphotographers tell me to so I am not very good at it. I am using Capture NX2 instead. But, as always. I will give it a try to learn and I will come back if I get a result I am more happy with...

I think a vertical capture with the entire body of the moose would be more effective...
