    Hi Dave,
You have a fine little guy here. We need to address a few issues on this one...:D I would start by running some noise reduction to the image. The perch is a bit over powering, I would clone out the stub going down on the right hand side, and carefully clone out the one touching the bird's rear. also clone out a piece from the front branch just before the split. The subject is too centered in frame, you need to off set him. The head angle and eye contact are good. The backgoung is too busy and bit distracting; perhaps if you could open up more instead of using an f/5.6, you could have blured out the background more. This is a simple fix in PS. The two thick vertical yellow lines are very distracting; see if you can blur them out. Looking foward to your next one...

I like the raw material here Dave! Good pose and eye contact. Gus makes some good points. Not a particularly easy fix, but I thought I'd put a little extra into this repost. I've taken a few artistic liberties. How do you like it?

I agree with the others...the BG was just a bit too busy. You got a nicely exposed bird with really good detail...it just needed a little less attention around it.

Excellent re post !!!! Solid PS work Doug !!!

This is a good example of looking for a bg while making the image Moving a little right or left would have made for a better bg as presented !!!
