One from the near past, In 2006 i spent some time photographing Mute Swans on Lake Geneva after a couple of weeks i had most things i wanted but decided to spend some time trying to get the immense power of these large birds taking off, This was taken at 1/25
Canon 1D2+500F4+2X

Very effective use of slow shutter speed. I like the movement implied here, and you succesfully depicted the power that you wanted to show. I would only try to tone down the brighter streak above the swan.
I really like this. The spray off the back of the bird really appeals to me. The brighter streaks in the water add to the sense of "warp drive" for me. Outstanding.
A stunning, powerful image, I love the water spray behind the bird, I also like the lines in the background they show the speed at which the birds was travelling...
Very difficult situation extremely well handled: exposure on the whites perfect, the head is sharp and the spray behind the bird adds a finishing touch
Wow! Now that's a pan shot! Great job staying on the head. Then that sharpening made a great shot perfect.
The difference between that sharp head and the big blurred range of motion on the wings is exceptional. This should be in the panning chapter in photog text books.
This is a fantastic shot. The wings almost touching the water are great and I love the streaked colours in the water. So much more interesting at slow shutter speed.
My only criticism would be that it's a little tight from the left, right, and bottom edges. It would be nice to have more cushioning--and space for the swan to fly into. Otherwise, excellent capture!
