Striding Baird's

Juvenile Baird's sandpiper, one of a southbound pair that dropped in yesterday at Weskeag salt marsh, South Thomaston, Maine. Baird's are fairly unusual for midcoast Maine, but these were very tame and approachable. Buffy color overall, longer wings than other peeps, black legs.

I like how clean this image is, quite beautiful smooth water. Just a few pointers though: I'd eliminate the small protruding object in front of the bird, and give more room below for the reflection (both very easy fixes). Also wish for a better head angle (not so easy except to go back and re-photograph it ;-) Love the leg movement and accompanying water flow!

As noted above. A little turn of the head would have put this over the top. Beautiful reflection.

Love these guys. Like the reflection and the raised foot. The head angle problem is a result of the bird's whole body being angled away... Best to get them parallel to the back of the camera or coming towards you a bit.
