    I was fairly close to the bird, but almost missed it, since it was near the edge of the frame. I liked the unusual shadows and contrasts. I haven't posted for a while, so thought I would get your opinions on this one

    Canon XTi 400mm f5.6 1/1000s ISO 400 partial metering (closest to spot that the XTi has)

    Hi Terry, and welcome back! It might have worked for me if the eye was sunlit. As posted, I'm not crazy about it. Also, the bright area behind the bird is a little distracting. I do like the OOF flowers though. Thanks for posting!

    I actually like this quite a bit, although obviously not a typical hummer image. The patterns of shadow on the face make it interesting, and I don't mind the eye since it has a catch-light. The composition really works for me with the curves, shapes, and splashes of color. I don't think everyone will like it, but it is very stylistic and appeals to me.

    Thanks all for the comments. I was mixed about this image too, but rather liked it, so through I would see what you all thought.

    Good to see you back but put me down for an instant delete on this one. My favorite part is the flower in the lrc.
