I was pretty excited to spot this kite just up the road from my house. I've never seen one before and they are not very common where I live. I know the angle is bad and I hate the wire, but at least I got a few takes the second evening I saw him.

A very fine capture in deed Anita,
The exposure is very good, you show razor sharp details in the feathers, with excellent color rendition. The pale blue-gray sky is very pleasing and compliments your subject very well. I do like the wire perch. My only recommendation for your next one, is to not have the diagonal wire come out of the intersecting frame. It displays better if you have it just a tad above or below the intersecting frame point...:D Well, that being said, you did a fantastic job...a big congrats...and looking foward to your next capture...

Gus, thanks for your specific critique and kind words. Now that I'm in a dark room instead of in a day lit one, I see I need to do some more work on the sky; noise, etc. And yes, didn't notice before but that one end of the wire is smack dab in the corner in this particular take, isn't it....?! Sigh....thanks for pointing that out.

    Hi Anita,
Great capture - congratulations! My only nit is that the eyes look a little noisy on my screen - could just be my screen though. Very lovely bird.

    Nicki

    Hi Anita,

Nice image! the bird looks great. The subjects colors and details appear very good to me. I also think the mono-colored sky compliments the subject. I agree that a lower angle would have been mice but, I personally have never seen this bird at a lower angle. Therefore, I don't mind the angle too much. I also agree with with Gus's comments on the placement of the wire.

    Regards,

    Phil

Agree with Al Anita. Your long lens technique is getting better! It's always exciting to see a life bird in an unexpected place.

Very nice capture, Anita and a different crop and noise reduction will really dress it up. I'm impressed that you have this much detail with the 500 and 2x.

Thanks so very much, guys! Nicki, I'll take a closer look at the eyes, can't see the noise right now but under different light conditions in this room, might see it. Thanks for the heads up. Al, I went for the whip myself when I realized what aperture I had used - geeeezzzzzz!!! I thought I'd learned my lesson about checking settings before pressing the shutter, but guess not.....:((((
