Noticed some of you doing "belly button" florals and decided to use a similar technique on my seeding out thistle image. Then went a step further and added a "ripple" effect. Reminds me of hair flowing underwater....

Oh Anita!!! This is fabulous! The only thing I don't totally love is the comp - it feels a bit tight on the top and bottom. Either convert it to a vertical or, if possible, you might try moving the stem to one side and making the "hair" flow all the way across to the other side. I think that would look smokin'!

Anita: Good job -- I love the "ripple effect" and want to try it! A great way to enhance a thistle!

Thanks, Julie and Joanna, I'm glad you enjoyed it. Julie, this was full frame, figured I'd be cropping it but ended up liking it best the way I shot it. Not sure what you mean by moving the stem to one side and then having the 'hair' flow all the way across: do you mean, as in rotating this to a vertical and then adding canvas to stretch the hair across? I might try that, could be cool!

Yes, exactly! You might want to just try taking another image, though as you'd really have to add a lot of canvas to make it work. If you didn't take it full frame, you could turn the crop so that the stem moved to one side and then the fuzz/hair flowed out to all three corners.

It's still really lovely as is...just thought it would be a different way to go!
