    Default Tazlina-Wolf!

This is Tazlina. She is one of my favorites at the wolf preserve. She is well cared for and loves her home. She is a might skittish due to her being abused at her former home. She let me in in her compound today and allowed me to photograph her from about 30 feet away. The light was on my left and high to mid range, bright spots abounded in the shadowed areas where she felt most comfortable watching me watching her. These 2 images were captured when we were leaving the pen and crept up to smell my scent and keep me at a comfortable distance. It was very nice to watch her run and occasionally go to her nap spot, peering at me from behind the fur trees. The ears are almost flat and pointing backwards so she can hear an approach from behind her. She is watching me, so I am no threat. She is one cautious wolf. And extremely beautiful to be with. I hope you enjoy these moments in time with her.

Canon EOS-1D Mark II N, Shooting Date/Time: 8/21/2008 12:29:06, Shutter Speed 1/320Sec. Av(Aperture Value) F2.8, Evaluative metering, Exposure Compensation -1, ISO 640, Lens: EF300mm f/2.8L IS USM, Focal Length: 300.0 mm, on tripod and crouching in a chair with my left knee on the ground to get as low as possible to minimize the surroundings. I cropped in frame these images on purpose they way they are. I like them in B&W rather than color, so as to emphasize the 2 toned coat she has.

She is a real treasure! I think a crop of just above her neck (cutting out the glaring hot spot on her shoulder) would really do this image justice. Her face is so expressive that it's really all you need to convey a stirring image. Nicely done!

    Hi Grady,
You introduced us to this beautifull lady before. I must say that I like this rendition better. She has a spooky look. I love it...very well done...

Thank you Julie, Gus and Cindy. She is actually a very timid, shy and yet loving wolf. She will come right up to the owners and eat a treat from her hand. She lets me in her pen, and as long as I giver a decent personal space, she will tolerate me in the pen. When I leave she creeps right up to where I was and smells my scent, which is how I got the images above. It is a huge step for her to let me in and not bite me. I plan on making big friends with her.
