    Default Color profiles

    Hi everyone,

I recently had a problem where I was working on an image but when I uploaded it to BPN the colors were completely wrong. Have since heard that it has to do with color profiles ... which is where my question comes in ...

What should my equipment be set to as far as color profiles go (i.e my camera, my raw converter and my PP software) ... in case it helps, I use a Canon 40D, Lightroom 1.4.1 and Adobe CS3 Extended.

Also, for the more technical guys (if you like) what do all the different color profiles mean/used for.

Thanks very much for the help.

Hi Victor, I have a Canon 40D and shoot RAW so I can change from AdobeRGB to sRGB in my RAW converter at will, having said that I always use AdobeRGB for printing and sRGB for the Web. Internet Explorer (I.E.) isnt Colour Aware so if you upload an AdobeRGB file I.E. will display it as sRGB and that is where most problems arise. Firefox 3 and Safari web browsers are Colour Aware (or more correctly 'can be' Colour Aware) so they would show the correct colours if you upload AdobeRGB or sRGB, but as a lot of people use I.E. it is prudent to use sRGB for all web images.

Of course you also need your Monitor Colour Calibrated otherwise what you see will not be what others see, and if you print at home it is best to get a Colour Profile made for the ink and paper combination you use.
