Hi everyone,
I'm kind of embarrassed to post this one next to Al's world-class image...
Taken at Ding Darling back in March - I was fortunate enough to see this great egret tussling with an eel, but too inexperienced to think about moving to a better position, so the HAP might be bringing out the handcuffs on this one... Let's just say that I posted this in the spirit of artistic license...:)
400D 100-400 @ 400mm
ISO 200
AV F16 (can't imagine how I got to this!) 1/60 sec
Slight crop, added canvas to the left and tweaked in levels.
Look forward to your c & c's!
Best regards,
Nicki
Fantastic capture Lady Nicki,
I like that cork screw bill rotation... The composition is very good; you were at the right place, at the right time...congrats...
Really nice Nicki I feel in images like this doing a behavior the head angle is not the main thing Looks just fine If you could have gotten the eye visible would have been a plus. I find the eye necessary for most images.
It is a good idea going slow and don't think I have many like these since its difficult to predict when they are going to twist !!! Cropping wise maybe a little more room at the top !!!
Nice image! I like the action/behavior. I not a big fan of blurs but, I think it works very well here. The blurred eel and head head feathers gives the impression that the egret's head in spinning. With the spinning blur/motion I do not mind not seeing the eye. I also like the composition. I agree with Alfred; perhaps a little more room at the top.
