I created this image last Sunday morning while visiting Hamilton, Ontario. The bird was a member of a colony nesting on some manmade islands in Burlington Bay. It was only my second time seeing and trying to photograph Caspian Terns. I had hoped for some face-on landing sequences but the wind direction forced the birds to land with their backs towards me.
Canon EOS 40D, Sigma 50-500mm at 500mm, 1/2500 seconds F8, ISO - 400, Flash - Not fired
Handheld and cropped some off the right side to have the image represent about 80% of full frame.
I like the head turn and the wing position in the frame.
My thanks to Jody Melanson and Brandon Holden who gave me some tips on places to go to find birds while I was in Hamilton.

Good composition, image and capture. I like the flight angle. You have good details and head angle. The baby blue sky makes him pop...congrats...
