    Default Stilt in the Flowers

found this girl frolicking around in the flowers at loxahatchee NWR a few weeks ago. she had two babies this year that survived and are still around!!

    D300, Bigma at 500mm, f/8, 1/1000s, -0.3EV, ISO 400

did a gradient gaussian blur on all four sides and heavy noise reduction on the entire bg. lightened the eye a little and sharpened the lighter areas of the bird. darkened the corners to highlight the bird.

thanks for looking and comments and critiques are appreciated.

    Nicely composed Mr. Daktari,
Bird placement in frame id dead on. I like the natural habitat. You have good color rendition in the greens; good details in the bird. I also think that oof purple flower in the upper left quadrant of your frame adds character to the overall image. Your exposure is good.. Did you get to see the babies?

Aside from everything else, love the open beak.

    Hi Harold,
Beautiful picture, i like the low angle, eye contact and the habitat. i would crop a little tighter by removing a little of the top and right side.

    Hi Harold,

I agree that this image of the bird in habit is very nice and works for me. I am still not big on the technical aspects but I like the feel. Congratulations on a lovely picture. All my habit pictures just look cluttered. Here the bird stands out, is clear and sharp, and the placement completes the the image. While the rest of picture clearly displays habit. Well done!

    Regards,

    Phil

    Hey Harold,

The upper bg is slightly distracting to me, but I like your image very much!!!

Good one, Harold! I like all the post processing you did. You managed to do quite a bit and still have it all look totally natural and that's a VERY good skill to have!

Harold, I love Stilts and this one is such a nice change from a water view. Great composition and good light---I'm guessing early morning?
