    Hi Harold,
Thank you for the comment, The reason it is so bright is because i believe dialed +2 2/3 of light.I was trying to blow out the background.( I am working on Manual exposure all the time, so i am not 100% sure of the exposure compensation)
    Thank you,
    Adams

Hi Adams Like what you are trying to do Experimenting is the way to go !!!

For this early morning image you do need to add light for the Canon cameras. Normally pre dawn you need about one stop to one and one third. For the new Nikons you don't since its taking the temperature of the light into consideration and adjusting .... adding light for you. When I'm working the IPTs with Artie we are now calling the exposure difference... and always check the histogram.

I think this would look better with some detail in the water particularly if you get some color. Pre dawn you will photographing into the area the sun will be rising. I like the crop very much might take a tad of the bottom so the head does not look clipped. I made a version without the blue cast, let me know if you like it. Not other change other than color balancing to correct and make warmer.

Al's repost is much better for me without the blue cast. Personally just find it a little hard to distinguish any detail in a number of area's.
I like to pose and would have liked to see more of the reflection as well.

    keep them coming

I think both the original and the repost are good. They each give a different feel.

Adams, It's a stunning image from an experimental standpoint, but must agree with Al and Lance. Would like to see more detail in the bird and color in the water.

    Cheers,

    Bruce

Retract my earlier statement - now on a colour balanced screen - ALS repost is the ticket.

Just wish for the complete reflection.

    Nice Job.

I like both images as well but favor Al's because the color cast now matches the color patch on the bird's face. It's a beautiful image and agree that blown up and hanging on a wall is the best way to go!

I agree with Julie, the less blue color balance of Al's repost allows the color patch on the Egret's face to be much more striking. Kind of gives the image a visual anchor.

Hmmm- I like both, but prefer the blue BG- it sort of glows. So (I hope this is OK), I just took the blue cast off the Egret...like so-
I did this with magnetic lasso on the bird, then hue/saturation on the bird- reduced blue cast somewhat. Probably should have toned down the reflection too...:o

Apologies if it's not OK to repost your photo Adams- it's really beautiful whatever you do to it!
