    Default D80 Mirror Lock?

How silly is this? I was playing around with my 2x converter on my 70-300 lens - on my tripod, and I wanted to lock the mirror up, and use my remote to trip the shutter - so that I would not vibrate the camera/lens at all.

However, it appears that when the mirror is locked up, the ability to use the remote is disabled. Has anyone else come across this? This makes absolutely no sense to me.... The whole point of both the remote and mirror lock is to avoid vibration.....

    Sigh.

If someone knows a way around this, I'd appreciate feedback. I guess I could get the mechanical - instead of the IR remote....

Amy, I think that this feature is just for cleaning the sensor on the D80, there is an Exposure Delay ( custom setting # 31)feature that takes image 0.4 sec after mirror has been raised, but no true mirror lock-up that would be usefull for taking an image.

Thanks, Dan. I will look that setting up. I don't remember the manual for my Nikkormat being this long.....

Nikon doesn't believe in Mirror Lock up. Canon has Mirror Lock up, but you have to fiddle with several buttons to reach it.
