I think this photo fits "Eager to Learn" here :D

D300, 300mm; ISO 640, F4, 1/800 sec. Manual exposure mode. Cropped the right.

What a terrific capture and very uncommon pose. Well done.
I think the bird's pose is great. The only suggestion I have is to try a tighter crop. To me the bird is a bit overwhelmed by the negative space. Maybe a pano shot (that also eliminates that red/orange blotch in the upper left).
Really nice portrait of a young swllow.

    Good one Desmond !!!!

This show how you should place a small bird in frame and make it look good. Cropping is an option but will probably cause degradation so its better to go with the flow !!! Bg sure looks good with leaves far enough back to be blurred and just the foreground leafs with the nearest in focus. Would remove the few bright spots.

Thanks for posting this one Desmond Does show exactly what to do with a small bird in frame.

    Hi Desmond,
I really like this crop too. I think that it emphasises the smallness and vulnerability of the bird. Love the BG and would just remove the small white spot under the bird. Well done!

    Thanks folks !

Regarding the rather large empty space, Nicki pretty much stated what I had in mind. Gail's suggestion, as Al pointed out, is a valid option. I just wanted to try out a different idea this time. It seems to work out OK :D

And how the **** did I not notice that little white spot ? :o:(
