    While photographing Goldfinches on thistle, I had a couple of monarchs feeding on it as well...I finally had to create an image of one :)

    The image was created in the very last rays of the evening sun.

    a BB and SB-800 combination was used for fill at -3 EV

    Nikon D300, 500 AFS~VR, TC14EII, ISO 500, CW metering -.3 EV compensation, NearUniWB preset

    Gorgeous! It's really spectacular, Jim. I'd crop a little of the negative space off the top but, otherwise, wouldn't touch it!

    Nice image Jim, the light is beautiful and great colours. I would personally crop a bit from the left and top.

    Very striking image and excellent color and detail as well as a very pleasing composition.
