Harold..I have been a WL rehabilitator for 12 years and yes sqs are my favs and only last year did I quit rehabbing songbirds (Wrens, Wax-wings and Swifts being my favs there) because of time issues.
Way cute!!! I volunteer in a local wildlife rescue centre one morning a week and just love it - I haven't seen one this small yet - an awful lot of hoglets coming in at the moment...

Nicki
I love the hairs on his little nose! Nonda, I think the softer focus actually works to your advantage here as it really helps to convey the mood of how soft and fragile he is. Gosh I wish we could see the tail...this is such an interesting look at a newborn squirrel!
Nicki, your talking hedgehogs right? They are so cool!!! Good for you on volunteering too
Julie, didn't even notice the tail, was working quick so he wasn't away from heat to long, they get cold quickly. If all goes well I'll try and get another image in a week, with tail. They are born with the nose hairs, called vibrasie (probably didn't spell that right).
Yes Nonda, baby hedgehogs - so cute, but they make such a mess...!!! We also have a wide variety of baby birds, from swallows, greefinches etc to moorhen chicks (who die of a broken heart unless they have company) to gulls, owls and hawks. We also have a variety of mammals - a fair representation of everything that you will find in the British countryside. We never turn an animal or bird away!!

Nicki
what a cutie, Nonda.:) I've raised a few kittens from just a few hours old. I assume they are released in the woods once they can fend for themselves??
Nicki, interesting on the moorhen chicks, wood duck chicks are the same, feather dusters and what not are used to keep singles going and it is still iffy.
Yes Bruce they are most certainly released. We have large outside pre-release pens here and then we have one at the woods. By the time they are old enough to go they can't get away from me fast enough, the feeling is mutual:D Cute as they are when tots.
Fascinating about the wood duck chicks Nonda - we tend to put our moorhens in with ducklings of a similar size - seems to work OK! We also have pre-release pens - the same the world over!!!

Nicki
