    Default Dunlin

    Hi

There has been a steady trickle of waders returning over the last couple of weeks from their northern breeding areas. Some of which are still showing their summer plumage. The main species back so far are dunlin and turnstone along with the occasional knot and a few sanderling. This is one of the returned dunlin taken a couple of days ago.

    Taken with !Dmk3 and 500mm lens (handheld) ay ISO400 F6.3 and 1/1600s

    Cheers

I like the setting Interesting how will appeal to most I find the layering pleasing. Would lighten the head/breast are a bit !!!

Great angle and details. I find the rock in the BG a bit distracting.

Like the pose and sharpness. I'm with Axel here about the BG rock on the right. Fill flash would have helped here. Thanks for posting!

Thanks Alfred, Axel and Doug for your replies. I found the line of the rock a bit distracting as it cut down through the bird. I was crawling along a rock pile and wanted to go right a bit to get a better angle by moving to the right but the dunlin were very twitchy having just arrived back.

    cheers

    Rich
