One more GTO from Neck point park Nanaimo BC Mark II N 500 F4 1.4 converter Photographed @ 1/15 F 7.1 There has been three young ones to photograph lots of fun
The main problem I have with this photo is it is too bright, based on what I can see on my monitor. A lot of hot spots with RGB values higher than 249. I'm afraid it's over-exposed. If you don't mind using Photoshop and the like, you could possibly improve the final look of this shot.
My two cents.

Beautiful portrait of the owl. On my Monitor the owl looks correctly exposed. Only the leaves and parts of the branch seem to be overexposed.
I would try to darken the BG with Photoshop. You could also try to blur the BG a little and see if you this helps to better isolate the bird against the BG.
Very nice owl image, and impressively in the clear as it's hard to catch them unobscured. Other than the lichen on the branch and the two upward facing leaves on the right, exposure on the first image looks fine to me. You might want to blur the background just a bit. Nice job!
