for a year or more i have been trying to get shots of wrens that were good enough to post. in the past 3 days i've got many. the one i shot today may have a bit of an eye problem (not looking at you), but it is pretty good i think.

Mike the main problem here is the mixed light I can't see one working partly in shadows The other thing is the birds position in the middle of the frame with more space behind him (looking left) The image might be slightly soft form movement? Lots of magnification for the slow shutter speed.

Hey Mike, at least you didn't come home empty-handed like I did from my last couple of outings :o

Anyhow, I personally don't really have much problem with a mixed lighting environment like this. But then it could be because of my lack of experiences. The main issue with me is the head angle here (I can't believe I'm sounding like a HAP). I wish the bird was looking more at your direction. I would most likely darken the couple of white spots in the background and cropped a bit from the right.

Mixed lighting is a tough one. This isn't terrible by any means but it does leave the photo feeling over and under exposed at the same time. I'm with the others, though...as cute as he is, I really wish for a better head angle.
