    Default Green Violet-Ear Hummingbird

This Green Violet-Ear struck the perfect pose for me in Costa Rica. They are quite common in the cloud forest, but I never get tired of photographing them because of their incredible beauty.

Breathtaking image, love the sharpness, background and delicate touch with the growth on the perch. Personally I do not like straight horizontal perches too much as I feel it tends to cut the image in two, but here it doesn't really bother me as it is softened by the growth.

Excellent colours on this bird. Sharp shot with a great OOF BG.

    Hi Doug,

I have always enjoyed images of the hummingbird. This is another beautiful one which shows what nature has in store for us. The details, the colours, that look and the water droplets on the beak - An image to cherish!

I don't think I could ever get my fill of this bird, either. What a fine looking specimen and you did a splendid job showing him off. I'm starting to save for my first Costa Rica trip in 2010. These images I see will keep me stashing those bucks. I can't wait!

Hey Doug, You never did post the techs on this shot...was it natural light and natural background or more involved than that?

Georgeous Doug. In a perfect world I would prefer a thinner perch but the 'moss' at the end makes up for that :)
