I think this is a female Magnificent Hummingbird. Looks sharp and with quite a lot of details. Let's hear from the experts :)

BTW, was light coming from two different directions?

    Hi Desmond,
Light was coming from my left side only.
    Thank you,
    Adams

Adams, I can't help you with the ID, but I love the image. The quality of light is fantastic, and you absolutely nailed the sharpness. This is exactly the kind of light I'm trying to duplicate with my multi-flash setup for hummingbirds. Thanks for the inspiration!

    Cheers,
    Greg

Can't be the Magnificent H. since their range goes from SW USA to W Panama.

OK. I just think it looks like the photo on page 259 of the Smithsonian Field Guide to the Birds of North America, copyright @ 2008 :D:o

Maybe everyone knows this except the Magnificent Hummingbirds.... someone should fill them in before they get deported from Brazil.... ;)

What a beautiful image, Adams. I looked around on the internet, and for sure, if it IS a Magnificent, then it will be the only decent photo of one available on the internet! :) It was difficult to tell - but Wikipedia had a relatively good photo of it that does look like your bird.

I have to vote with Juan Carlos on this one and agree that an ID of magnificent hummingbird seems pretty unlikely.

    Cheers,
    Greg
