I took this photo a couple of years ago at a bird show at Disney World just after getting my first DSLR. They showcased several birds that had been rehabilitated from injuries, etc. My kids loved it!

I missed my chance to capture this bird in flight, but got this one while he was sitting on a perch. He wouldn't look my way -- I think the food was off to my left.

Hi Mike is always a thrill to see them up close !!

Light was very harsh and the over sharpening is making matters worse. For these captive animals you can usually walk around to set up the best bg, many times you can have the birds moved to a better location. If you get the chance have them moved in the shade, will make all the difference. Here you made a sharp image with a good head angle. Might want to crop a little different to have more room up front but do like the image !!!! Looking forward to your next encounter !!!

Al has given a good critique. Less harsh light and a smoother BG would have definitely been a bonus but you have to take what you can get sometimes. Perhaps you can go back again and give it another try.
