Not much happening at present - so went with a shot of a common bird, The noisy Miner fast little birds hard to get a decent shot.

    Nicely done Lance,
Good composition, image and capture. Love the soft pastel green background. The bright colors and details on the bird are great. Head angle and eye contact is dead on. The only thing that I would suggest is adding just a tad more room for the tail...:) congrats buddy...good show...

Hey Gus Buddy - yeh I had more room for the tail, but that then really started to centre the bird.

You've got some good looking common bird in Australia, Lance. I'm wondering if the pastel colors has something to do with the +0.3EV, not that it's necessary a bad thing even if so. I like the overall feel of the photo.

Hey Desmond - pastel colours are primarily from the BG I chose to shoot against - maily some tall grasses and the lighter area's are actually gravel - not that you can tell from the shot.

Hi Lance, great capture and quite a pretty bird, not common at all, at least to me.

Agree with the other comments. Very effective image in pastel shades. Any chance of smoothing the bg a bit; I find it opposing the smoothness of the rest of the image.
    Nicely done

Hi Lance, very nice. I like the pose, head angle and eye contact. You are really getting good at the PP. I do think it could improve with just a tad more tail room.

Very nice image, Lance, but I have to ask...are they really that color? It almost looks like you've got a color cast going on. Never having seen one I'm not sure if I'm just seeing it differently than everyone else. Love your BG, composition and head angle. It's all really, really nice.

HI Julie - No that is very realistic colour redition of the bird - very soft grey with yellow tinges on the back and lower parts of the wings. Shot was taken in very soft light, very overcast day.

Noisy Miners are large honeyeaters that live in groups, with each group strongly defending a communal territory. Noisy Miners also aggressively exclude most small birds from their territories, creating areas with a low diversity of small birds. Noisy Miners must find food (insects and nectar) within their territories all year round because they are a sedentary species. This means they thrive in environments that have year-round sources of nectar.
