    ... at least I think that is what it is. I can't find anything similar (with the brown on the petals) in any of my guide books. There was one single flower like this in an entire meadow at Jacobsburg State Park (PA). So maybe its a variant but it looks too "perfect" to be a variant.

    Canon 30D and 300mm f/2.8L IS lens; tripod-mounted.

    1/160 sec @ f/8; ISO 200; -1/3EV; Natural light.

    Beautiful flower. Simple & elegantly composed Ed.
    I liked the BG a lot too - a mixture of shades of greens.
    The saturation in yellows (in the petals) is bit high & hence has taken its toll on the details (especially the petals on top) I feel.

    I really love this one, Ed. You are becoming quite the flower man! The BG is lovely with its different shades of green and has just the right amount of blur. And then those silky yellow petals...just beautiful!
