    Default Hoya Wrapped up

I've been so inspired by some of the post processing techniques I've seen here, I'm trying my hand at some.

This is a close-up of a Hoya bloom. I posted the full bloom on the macro forum, but I also had this closer shot of this unusual flower, and decided to play with it in Photoshop.

I applied the Plastic Wrap effect, and then Sharpen Edges. Then I cropped away the parts of the bloom that were not in focus because of the DOF.

The flowers are already a little plastic looking - this just takes it a step further.

    :)

I like this effect and the texture you got out of this. The repeating pattern looks great, good idea to get rid of the OOF parts.

Amy, We have a lot of hoyas in bloom too. Your applied filter of plastic wrap is ingenious. Some of the blooms really do look like that! Looks like they're shrink wrapped and you can pop them in the freezer and they'll last for ever. Congrats......

Way to go! I remember this from macro...isn't it fun to take a good image and make it into something else entirely? I like the effect and you did a great job of recreating the original image!

    Thanks for your comments everyone.

I originally was trying to figure out how to make a sphere out of this - wouldn't that be fun? (or would it be redundant since it's already a spherical bloom?) I think I'm missing something, though....

If anyone has any advice on making the "globe effect", please let me know.

    :)

    Thanks,
    Amy

The perfect filter for this image, it works out great! Keep them coming!

You can do the globe with Flaming Pear's Flexify, you can download a trail version from their website.

I like the ORIG and Fabs 2nd version. On the ORIG, the patterning is great but wish that it were a bit wider with possibly fewer buds cut by the frame edge...
