I spent Friday at my local botanical garden's "Butterfly Festival." Talk about a great opportunity to photograph color! Here's one of the images I worked on this weekend.

    Canon 40D, Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro
    f5.6 @ 1/60th, ISO 100
    Center-weighted metering, AWB
    Handheld, natural light

Processed in Camera Raw/CS3. Levels, curves, saturation adjustments. Slight crop. Selectively sharpened the butterfly and slightly blurred the BG.

Great color!!!! Love the BF! I agree on the one stem and would be tempted to maybe blur that whole side a bit more,my eye keeps getting drawn to the stuff in the upper RH corner.

BF's are quite scarce around here for some reason

    Hi Jules,
Agree about the stem, otherwise beautiful on all counts. Pity about the damage to the bottom of the left wing.
    Regards,
    Nicki

Okay, I went in and dodged that top right corner. Do you like this better?

It is better, but the stem through the wing is still bothersome. Terrific color on the BF.
