    Default Lotus In a Field of Wildflowers

    There was a new pond built right next to a butterfly garden at my nearby botanical garden. One of the lotus was in full bloom and stood about 3' tall, making it loom over the wildflowers in the butterfly garden directly behind it. It was just too good to pass up!

    Canon 40D, EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro
    f/8 @ 1/250, ISO 100
    natural light, handheld
    center-weighted metering, AWB

    I love this image, Julie. The background looks almost like pointillism (like Seurat) and the way the wildflower colors integrate is beautiful. Then the Lotus itself is stunning and plays wonderfully against that background. And, to me, the whites look perfect. Good catch. Good composition. Good execution. Excellent job, Julie!

    Jules, the colors in this are wonderful! The word that came to mind for the lotus bloom was "Buttery". That implies the texture, the light and the color. I agree, the background reminds me of Monet's water lilies or something like that....

    Looks like that's a wonderful place for photography!

    Amy, I was there for about 3 hours and took over 340 images so, yeah, I'd say it has it upside!!! :D:):D
