Nice work. Good composition, good focus. Head angle police might nit-pick but this is a good shot.

I knew you'd get it!!! Great googlie mooglie...I think he's got it! I would still like to see a bit more separation between the darkness of the bird and the darkness in the BG but this is definitely in the ball park! I'm so proud of how quickly your images are improving!

One thing that puzzles me though is why most of your photos were shot at such a slow shutter speed. I know the lighting probably wasn't that good but then, I guess, why most of your photos were shot in such poor lighting conditions? Did you use a tripod or some kind of support when shooting them?

Good question by Desmond, and I do hate to spoil the party but this image, while it may represent an improvement from previous posts (that I have not seen), has serious problems.... The placement of the bird in the frame is OK, but:

1-the bird is not even close to being sharp.
2-the part of the perch that comes towards us is close to being an image wrecker.
3-you needed to point the camera down a bit so that there would be some space under the curved part of the perch.

Even on a tripod, 1/40 sec is pushing it...
