A old friend - happy to have his photo taken.

    Nikon 70-200VR with 1.7X Converter @340mm
    f4.8

Pretty much as shot except for sharpening - could have used extension tubes/macro on this day as this fellow was inside my minimum focussing distance a lot.

    Thanks

Love it Lance! Those whites are on the bleeding edge, but I think I see detail throughout. Terrific composition with a great eye!

Hi Doug - they are well under on the original, I did push them as far as they would go - I wanted brilliant whites.

Neato Lance!, Wonderfully sharp, love the eye. That one spot of whites might be a bit too brilliant?:)

Have to say that spot of whites look a bit too bright on my monitor, too. The eye makes up for it a bit though :D

Beautiful colors and textures and tack sharp. I don't know if the white is blown...it is a wonderful image. the bg and the eye are sooooo close to the same blue.

Original tops out at about 251 on the histogram - don't know whether converting to SRGB made any difference.

Can't stop laughing at the bird or the image title! Good stuff, Lance. You really did a great job on this both compositionally and in PP.

I don't know how I missed this, but this is real nice, Lance. I am waiting for a photo from you where I can tell you that it needs sharpening, but this ain't it! Great detail.

Julie - Glad you got a laugh out of it :)
