I've had this one for awhile and didn't post it because of the high angle but I like it and think it deserves a look or two. So, here is my critique: HA okay as it is a preening pose; good exposure, no blown highlights; nice behavioural image and the reflection and view of the leg and foot through the clear water add interest. I like the centered crop (almost full frame) which plays off the ripples and just because it is the center of interest as you look down from the pier.
Thanks for looking and I welcome/appreciate C&C:)

Love those Grebe feet! Your right, very good exposure and very nice water color!!! The HA just doesn't work for me. On of the very cool things about Grebe's are their eyes, least for me, and not having that eye takes away from the Grebeness:)
Clark's indeed Katie, with that white side of the head extending above the eye. It is, as you say, a good behavioral image, more a well taken work of science than of art.

Hi Katie even for this image the head angle is important !! Preening we like to see the head parallel to the film plane In this case the eye would have been prominent.
I do like the high angle here since it shows the feet and do have pleasing water !!!!
Katie, I thinj the get out of jail free card Nicki is referring to was mine!!!!
I like your image even though the eye contact is not there. Nice colors and very sharp.
