I had thought about this image for a year, and when I saw a cornfield being harvested one evening, we hurried back to get the photo. It was surprisingly difficult to find a field which was facing west and partially harvested at the time of a good sunset. lol

I had only the camera's built in flash which was too harsh for what I wanted. So I held a dry corn husk leaf in front of the flash to soften the light and give the image more of the color of an evening.

When I printed this, I used a metallic finish on it to intensify the color and give it a shine.

    critiques gratefully accepted. thanks.

Wow, Lisa, this is great. I like your concept and thank you for telling us how you did it, very clever. The color is wonderful, good composition and it has great depth. I might take a little off the bottom but it is very, very nice as is.

Brilliant !!!! Love it Lisa !!!!! Great being able to see an image in your mind then actually going out and making it !!!

The colors are a perfect match and the fill light just right If anything would darken the light spot at the top center Big Time Congrats !!!!

I was thinking of cropping the top light strip off, but I like the curl in the dry husk near the top. so i decided to leave the light area there in order to keep the curl.

I also darkened the ground background for submitting here. do you think it is too dark so that the 'silk' blends in too much?

It might be nice if you could pull a little detail out of the silk. This is really nice.

Very original using the dry leaf to soften the flash. Excellent capture.
