I had thought about this image for a year, and when I saw a cornfield being harvested one evening, we hurried back to get the photo. It was surprisingly difficult to find a field which was facing west and partially harvested at the time of a good sunset. lol
I had only the camera's built in flash which was too harsh for what I wanted. So I held a dry corn husk leaf in front of the flash to soften the light and give the image more of the color of an evening.
When I printed this, I used a metallic finish on it to intensify the color and give it a shine.
Wow, Lisa, this is great. I like your concept and thank you for telling us how you did it, very clever. The color is wonderful, good composition and it has great depth. I might take a little off the bottom but it is very, very nice as is.
I was thinking of cropping the top light strip off, but I like the curl in the dry husk near the top. so i decided to leave the light area there in order to keep the curl.
I also darkened the ground background for submitting here. do you think it is too dark so that the 'silk' blends in too much?
