I went looking for swallow-tailed kites in the Atchafalaya Basin this past Sunday, but did not have any luck. While waiting for a juvenile kite to show up again, this little guy popped up. After about an hour, I decided to look at him through the view finder and this is what I was able to get after coaxing him closer to the boat. It was relaxing getting deep into the basin, but would have hoped for more action. C&C appreciated.

    Thanks

Really like the eyes and the patters in the water. Nice image.

Very nice composition. Would like to see tip of the nose also in focus. May be two images with focus stacking next time?

Very nice picture. One of the better head-picture on alligators I have seen. I do not think that the nose is to disturbing but ofcource it would be better if it was in focus..

Love ths composition and the great reflection. The gator seems a bit hot to me and a little CW rotation would hellp.. Well done

Cool image Tim, the details of and around the eye are nice and so are the colors. More DOF would have improved this but difficult to achieve. Most likely Sid's suggestion would have yielded the best results.

I'm curious about where you see the needed CW rotation. The top of the eyes are horizontal. Is it where the nose meets the water?

    Thanks,
    Tim
