Love the composition, pose, and sharpness John! I doubt that more DOF would have gotten the tail feathers in focus, so you made a good choice shooting f/5.6 for the BG, which looks good. Thanks for posting!

Great details, light and beautiful bird. I would give it a bit more room. Thanks for sharing!

Very nice bird and great details. I agree with Doug about the DOF.

I usually don't like 'em so tight in the frame, but this one works! It has the feel of the bird's curiosty having it approach quite close for further inspection of that big round glass pointed towards it :-) Terrific pose!!

I would only tone down the three brighter spots above the perch in LLC.

A lovely image John. Reminds me of my garden in Cape Town. I don't think it is too tight as some have suggested but I would darken the log a bit.

I like the alert pose and critical sharpness around the face.

Nice image of this beautiful looking bird. I am ok with the out of focus tail. Such a pleasing image.

Perfect head angle and tail cock. Incredibly sharp. And thankfully, nobody requested that the tail be in focus.

Lovely shot of this species, John. Pose is typical - captures the feel of the bird really well. Technical details all perfect.
