    Hi Folks,
With this image I am probably going to get much jail time and many lashes...:eek:...(side-lit, head angle not level with image sensor, feet cut off etc etc)... BUT I posted this because I believe that sometimes one can make a beautiful image and still break all the rules. I hope that this picture evokes a mood and an atmosphere that would not have been present had I waited for all the technical boxes to be ticked.

I like it Nicki! About the only things I'd change would be a little more DOF (think ISO 400) and a slightly more generous crop on all but the bottom of the frame. I'd like to see the ends of the feathers on the right. Thanks for posting!

Nikki, I think it's important to remember who your target audience is and make your image accordingly. If this were going to be for a bird photography magazine you might well deserve those lashes but for a fine art print? It's gorgeous. Drop dead gorgeous! You might try to pull up the dark highlights so the legs have a little bit more definition but that's about all I'd change. This is a perfect example of something that fits in the Out of the Box forum...you broke the rules "in camera" and made a wonderful image out of it. Good for you!!!

Hi Nicki, it's beautiful. I love the light, and the detail of the curved neck.... I agree with Doug that I wish the feathers to the right were complete but honestly, I wonder if just some more canvas / background over there would help....????

Hi Nicki I like the basic design very much and don't even mind the cut legs Seems to go well with the mood

The only part I have trouble with is not seeing the eyes Love the bg and elegant feel !!!

Agree with the above. Very pleasing image. I'm glad to see posts that don't fit the "mold" and I'm glad we can joke about it.
