On its way to developing its first adult plumage.
There is some unintentional vignetting from foreground foliage.
I know that some of the background could be distracting, but dont know how to fix that, suggestions welcome.

Oh Stephen! The BG is distracting but you really got a lovely image of the towhee with that mouth half open! Every part of him is in focus and nicely detailed. You'll probably get a hand smack for the slight turn away of the head but I think the eye and mouth make up for it!

As for the BG, I would try adding a gaussian blur and then pull it up lighter in shadows/highlights. Clone out the white spots to match the surrounding green and you'd really have a nice, clean shot. I wish I could do it for you to show you how but I don't have PS on my work computer any more. If nobody gets around to it by tonight I'll give it a go.

No smack for this one Jules ...... full twenty lashes !!! That head is looking the other way :D:)

For most images if you have oof white areas will be problematic Best to fill in Just follow Jules suggestions. Also very light areas around the borders tend to grab attention so they need to be tone down. btw good looking bird and love the pose Just the little head turn but its a keeper !!!

Hi Stephen, it seems that pictures of the immature phase don't get posted very often and to me they're very interesting so thank you for posting this. It's nice and sharp and you've aready received some good tips for improving the background, good job.
