We found this swarm of honeybees in a tree about 15' off the ground during the contest in April. After dark I was able to pull right up to the swarm in an elevated blind on the back of a jeep. Gave me a perfect shooting position to capture this image.

    Canon 40D, EF180mmF3.5L macro, 580 EX Flash, ISO 250, 1/200 @ F16

Definitely not flora. And I'm not sure its macro. But what it is is one **** (can I say that?) of an image! Outstanding!

Guess I can't say that!:D Make it "one heck of an image!"

Awesome!!!! I heard a lot of bees....but since I wasn't sure about them and with all the horror stories about killerbees around (there were a couple of nearly-attacks at our ranch last year) I didn't dare anything like this. Lovely image although the reflection on the wings caused by the flash distracts a bit. I'm looking forward meeting you again during the award celebration.

Very cool print. I might have gone for it at the moment but if I had thought about it for a split second I would have run in the opposite direction!
