I'm not sure this is the right forum, since there is no different technique for this image. Just straight on, but a slightly different take on the subject. I took this while waiting for bald eagles to fly by again when mom and I went to one of the lock and dams to photograph eagles. But after seeing the gorgeous photos here of eagles, I'm not posting the grainy grainy grainy ones I took with this lens. lol Instead I'll post this much more lowly image.

    again, critiques are tremondously appreciated!

Julie, while waiting for eagles, Lisa photographed ice in the river. "gotta keep shooting!" that's our motto. lol
ice isn't as interesting as eagles, that's for sure! but it was something new to try. she also ended up with an image of a rock which we like. eagles weren't always within range.

Okay! I couldn't tell if it was a feather or ice or ??? Now I see! Very nice. Love the colors and the patterns. I also like the way the diagonal line draws your eye through the image.

    Lisa,

Nice try. There are lot of details and patterns in your picture. It is very important to try to isolate few interesting things while composing a picture. I felt that it would appear better with some more isolation of patterns. I tried various crops of your image. Posting one of the versions. It need not be better than yours, just a different version.

I don't believe any subject is more important than the other. All of us love the big interesting species. However, if you are passionate than you can create very nice images out of ice as well. Look forward to more experimentations and images from you.

    Cheers

Nice repost Sabyasachi! The new crop and slightly crisper image really helps define it.

Sabya's repost improves the image infinitely. The patterns are beautiful.
