This cattle egret was capture today while shooting with Oscar at the Long Key Rookery, I think it would be better to close the lens a little bit more to have a better DOF, so many details and so little time for a BIF
    Pentax K10d, Da*300mm f:4, Iso 400, F 6.3, 1/2000, center weighted average, EV0, handheld, in body IS,

PP, fix a little the bg, sharpening

Really love the wings, nice and sharp too. Stopping down more would have taken the shutter speed lowed than the 1/200 it already was, less you up the ISO. I don't think anything is wrong with the DOF here. Nice exposure, with nice action pose and BG

Love the BG - nothing wrong with DOF for me either. Nice details, exposure looks good - well done from me :)

    Default My mistake

I'm glad you liked it. The speed was a typo; it's really 1/2000:o. I noticed the mistake when you mentioned it. I've corrected it. Thanks:)

you got a nice sharp image!! exposure looks good too! i gotta feeling the HAP is gonna get you on this one though. will be interesting to see. i think you need a little more space on the bottom and little less space on the left. he seems to be flying down so kinda makes sense to me. i love the detail in the bird and the bg is fantastic!! the filtered light gives it a nice feeling.

Nice one, Alberto! I think you did a pretty good job for a BIF (bird in flight). No, the head angle isn't right and yes, a bit more DOF would have pulled in more details of the back wing, but, overall, I think you got a lovely image here. One thing I would change is the crop - I see this as more of a roomy vertical than a horizontal. I would also check the color on your whites around the wings and maybe lighten the blue cast just a bit.

BIF images are tough and you did a relatively good job on this one! Bravo!!!

:)Thank you for all your C&Cs. I'm just starting out with PS, like with photography. In this repost I tried to correct some of the nits in the image:) What do you think?

Hi Alberto, I love this shot. HAP or not!

I wonder if having the subject of his gaze in the photo now (his landing target), in the repost, will appease the HAP?

    :)

i personally think you still need a little room in front. i could be wrong!! the area where your signature is is a little distracting now though. the streaky looky area. looked better on the first!!

    Hi Alberto,
Personally I liked your original crop - I find the bush at the bottom of your latest repost distracting and I liked that there was room in front of the bird in the original. Your first post was minimal and elegant, what ever the HA police may think!!! :D:eek:

Alberto, I like this one for the pose, the bg, the sharpness and without the grasses in the foreground. The head angle doesn't bother me and I find myself censoring my shots because of this issue, not always happily I must admit.

For my two cents on the HAP thing - at least I now know when the HA is not right - what I do now is, If I like the shot I post it and include the comment "wished for better head angle" which acknowledges that I am aware of the HA but choose to post the image anyway.

I also would seem to me to be that as your photography improves the HA becomes more commented on - its like the last frontier whch has to be conquored.

    I LOVE THE HAP :) :) :) :)

    Hi Alberto,
I like the capture, the third and final repost is dead on, however, the head angle and eye contact is a wee bit off...:D I like the soft green background and the details in the feathers, exposure and image is good and the whites are in check...congrats...I like it...
