Took this several years ago, but have never been sure if I liked the large rock in the front or not. realize branch on side should probably be cloned out. Any thoughts?
Excellent capture Joan, Like the effects of the rocks, specially the one closet. Only thing is I would clone out the branches coming out from the left side of the frame.
Congrats,
do like the rocks!! provides a good anchor for the photo. always helps to have interesting foreground elements. agree totally with oscar. the branches entering the frame on the left have to go!! a graduated neutral density filter would have helped here to darken the skys while keeping proper exposure on the foreground. as is, could try the gradient tool to darken and maybe add some contrast. also needs a little clockwise rotation. nice job on the compo!!
Very nice composition, Joan, but I think it would have been a stronger image had you used a neutral density filter to cut through the haze on the water and mountains. Also, always remember to expose for the lightest tones because it is easier to lighten the dark areas but really tough to add detail back to the blown whites and your clouds have a few spots with that going on.
I'd try bringing down the highlights overall without losing the detail in those front rocks and see what you come up with. It's a beautiful image...it just needs a few more tweaks.
