i have been wanting to compose this one for a few weeks now. i pass these guys everyday on the road to and from work. this is four different images overlayed on top of each other in the camera. it consists of one shot of plumbago(blue), one of lantana(yellow) and one of firebush(orange). there's also one more of firebush that is a zoomblur. the zoomblur just added something to it for me. i was going for a watercolor painting type image. dont know if i succeeded or not. whaddayathink?

D300, 18-200VR, f/ stops varied from f/5.6 to f/29 for the blur, and shutter speeds varied from 1/6s to 1/600s, most were -0.7EV and all were at ISO 200.

thanks for looking and comments and critiques are appreciated.

Hi Harold, this does have an impressionism look to it and I quite like it although I'm wondering if perhaps a softer, more faded look might be nice---not that I would know how to do that! Your process is very impressive.

    H:
You're getting very artistic here. You are showing a soft and creative side of you. I like it very much, feels very smooth.
    Congrats,

This has a great dreamlike quality to it. I wonder if it would be even more serene without the zoomblur. Either way, you've got me thinking about composite approach,so thank you!

Harold, you don't need the expensive filter kits that are out there...go to www.atncentral.com. Download their free action called "Dave's orton effect." Follow the instructions on how to load the action into Photoshop.

I took your image, did a levels adjustment (because it is a bit light in the upper and middle tones) and then applied that free Orton Effect action and this is what I got:

(There's also another action there called "Dave's Ethereal Glow" that does the same thing except the Orton effect also give the image a nice blur on top of the softer finish.

Great threat !!!! The final rendition rocks

Harold love the image Great feel and so cleverly made !!! I think the original had some overcooked yellows with little detail Sometimes you don't see the warming !!!! For these you normally need to decrease the saturation just a tad and all is well !!!
