    Please don't judge my skills or lack there of from this image.

    I am guessing it's a juvenile something or another. Taken on a lake in Orlando.

    Hey Mike, this is a juvenile Common Moorhen. Here in a short while he/she will begin to develop the characteristic red shield that you notice on all the adults. Until then it's the white stripe on the side/flank as well as the white undertail coverts that helped me to ID this guy.

    Mike, just to correct myself on this one. I thought moorhen, looked up moorhen in my guide to be sure, and still ended up typing coot. Sorry about that. It is a juvenile Common Moorhen!!
