With harsh light there is not much you can do but at times it can be to your advantage This image was made with harsh light behind the bird You need to underexpose by about three stops There is no need to meeter If looking at the bird is so bright you just can't do it three under will work fine
It is good to stop down to f22 or so for the highlights They get a sparkling look This might not be your type image but something fun to do with the conditions You can make them when nothing else works
