I forget which kind of Woodpecker this is (at the moment too lazy to look it up). Looking forward to comments.

Very nice, John. To save you a moment, it looks like a hairy woodpecker. :) Exposure looks good, it is just a bit tight in the frame and on my monitor it has a slight blue cast. Maybe a bit more sharpening.

I wonder why they call it a Hairy Woodpecker?

Good question. Maybe because the plumage around the beak is not as downy as that of the downy woodpecker. :)

Very lovely image John with a good pose and exposure and placed well in the frame. INits mentioned.
    Thanks for sharing.

Black and white birds present a challenge for exposure, but you did a great job in this image. Axel mentioned the nits.

Under arrest: HAP! (The head angle police...) The bird's head is facing away... This in part leads to apparent sharpness issues with the head and face. Agree on the blue cast. Basic COMP is good but pointing the camera a bit to the right would have given you the classic 1/3-1/3-1/3 COMP: 1/3 tree, 1/3 bird, 1/3 background.
